I am one of those who always runs over on my allotted amount of words in the detailed portion of the review.  

It takes me longer to attempt to figure out how much I need to cut out than it did to write the whole review.

when writing a review, we are provided with a counter which counts down from 8000 to let us know how many characters are remaining in the field.

this is a good idea, and can it be extended to the other boards as well, especially P&R [where I often work in a longish form]?
