Trying to come up with a way to prevent fake reviews being posted, and while the following is not perfect, I'm sure our denizens can modify it to work.
On the "submit review" page include an optional password/passphrase that the providers create and that reviewers have to use:1) Only ladies who are already on TER would be able to be reviewed. How would new ladies get their first reviews? Do you realize of the 1 million plus reviews and 200,000 plus provider profiles, how many of those don't even know or care they have reviews on TER? TER was created to review providers. Any provider with an internet presence, not just providers with a TER presence. Your system would eliminate the possibility of all the non TER ladies getting reviewed.
2) There would be no more bad reviews or ripoff reviews (which is what TER was originally created for)
3) no more anonymity. Some reviewers don't want providers to know their review handle. TER also initiated alias reviews about 3 1/2 years ago, for that same reason. Your system would get rid of that.
4) Your system basically turns a review site into a Provider site. You just gave all the power of TER to providers. TER was built for reviewers. As you acknowledge yourself, the providers would only give the code to people who would write good reviews. All reviews on the site would be good reviews. All reviews would be basically useless. May as well just allow self reviews.
2) This one ties in with #4
3) Code changes could be limited to no changes until X-reviews posted. An alias could still use a code (codes aren't published in review) and maintain such anonymity as is possible when reviewing a personal interaction.
4) False codes is a tough one. Could require issuing code at start of the meeting; note on reviews if the code was changed; users of false codes would be called out on discussion boards.
That last one is the most difficult to resolve, and likely why this dog won't hunt. Will take someone smarter than me to solve it.
I give you credit though for trying to come up with something.
I suppose there could be a system whereby a review could go up with or without a code, and the reader would be informed as to which it is. Whether one or the other would make the reader more assured is still an open question.
I think the best defense against false or otherwise misleading reviews is the ability for the reader to check the review history of the reviewer and judge for him/herself as to their credibility.
Reviews are TER's money maker. They aren't gonna to reduce the number of reviews coming in. Why do people write fake reviews? They do it for VIP days. Your new system doesn't address this issue.
If TER wants to stop fake reviews then they will have to eliminate giving out VIP days for doing reviews which TER knows if they do then TER will be out of business.
Some people think that 15 days of VIP is too much to give per review. If TER reduces the number of VIP days then either two things will happen. People will write more fake reviews in order to get VIP days which is more likely to happen then the second scenario. The second scenario is that people will quit writing reviews all together since it won't be worth it.
If TER increases the VIP days per review ratio. This might help a little because people won't have to write as many reviews to keep their VIP. However, TER relies on the volume of reviews coming in as their money maker. TER isn't gonna to do anything that will hurt their business.
I've seen vanilla & useless reviews - almost like someone took a previous review and reworded it. Very little of additional value, or even to get an idea of how the provider acted. To me, that's a signal that it's likely not real despite being accepted. But short of being in the room with them, I don't know that ANY review is real.
