You know how we are allowed to edit our posts for a whole until that window of opportunity closes? How about we have that same privilege but also for taking our own post down if we have a change of heart.

You can take down your own post but it's a two step process.
As long as you still have the "edit this message" button active at the bottom of your post, just delete the entire body of the message and replace the subject line with DELETE (that's step 1). A little while later, a TER Moderator will remove your post and any posts in reply to / derived from it (that's step 2).
Just the other day, I answered a Provider's Q and posted. THEN I read xyz's reply from 10 minutes earlier and I basically said the exact same thing as xyz, so I "deleted and DELETED" my post to remove the redundancy
I do it all the time when I fuck up a post to badly.
Just hit the edit tad, delete all the text and replace it with "please delete" Edited posts automatically go into the moderation queue, so that will be that last you ever see of it.
How could someone who spends so much time on the boards and who knows about the edit window, not know that you can simply edit your post into nothing? Lol. Anyway, Impposter, GaG and Deb set you straight. Easy Peasy to delete any post during the edit window and after the edit window expires, use "report this post." Of course the first method is instant, and the second method is at the mod's discretion and time frame. (Minutes to hours)
