with all the great acts that have come out of their own city the people in Detroit were irate over Nickleback on Thanksgiving. now the NFL picks Madonna ? i bet the bright idea was she would have international appeal.

I think the value of the halftime entertainment to the NFL is more about the discussions pre and post than the music during the show.

Therefore my guess is that someone in marketing is making the choice.
