A few threads down, we had a discussion about whether Joba Chamberlain would be starting in the post-season. It appears that he isn't, at least in the first series. The Yankees opted for the series to stretch over 8 days rather than 7, so they can probably go with a 3-man rotation of Sabathia, Pettitte, and Burnett.
I will be a shocked if the Yankees even need a game 5 to win this series. The Yankees are superior to the Twins in virtually all areas and have such offensive depth that they will virtaully wear the Twins down.
But then again, the Twins are hot and have played amazingly well down the stretch (all this w/o their second best player, Justin Morneau) And the Yankees have shown a propensity the last several years (2005-2007, no playoffs last year) to go quietly in the first round.
I still think the Yankees have way too much talent to lose in the first round again.
Although I am a Yankee fan, and know they are superior, especially on the mound, the Twinkees cannot be simply written off. They were scorching during their successful come from behind run, it was fun to watch, and that likely means they will not go off into the night quietly. Their pitching was depleted for tonight's game, and if they manage to win on Friday, they have the advantage in the Dome with the noise and the roof. My prediction: Yanks in four, with some scary moments...
