Yeah, really. I mean who gives a shit about the World Cup when we got American football. A game in which the average time the ball is in play is 11 minutes out of the whole 60 per game...
Oh, is that what they call it, "the ball is in play" when a bunch of guys are running up and down the field playing kickball? Scoring is so rare that when they do finally do score, they act like they've discovered the cure for cancer? Or when someone bumps into a guy accidentally, the bumpee goes down and acts like he's been shot? Yeah, lots of excitement there!!
Yeah, I guess soccer would be a high scoring game too if the team give themselves 6 points every time they get the ball across the goal line and then get another chance to tag on another point just for crossing the goal line. Oh, and you are so right on on that celebratory thing (cough, Chad Johnson, cough).
Soccer is a real contact sport, unlike football... They have NO padding, only shin guards, they break bones too. My whole family, being persian/asian, is a soccer family. I've seen my fair share of injuries.
It is a beautiful game of strategy, endurance, and creativity.
