Quade out as manager of the Cubs.

Theo Epstein's first official act as Cubs baseball czar was to fire manager Mike Quade, a move that everyone pretty much saw coming. Wonder if he'll go after Terry Francona. But if he does, Cubs fans will expect a World Series in the 1st year. The team needs pitching, plus a big bat in the middle of the lineup. Prince Fielder? Albert Pujols? Both Milwaukee and St. Louis are big Cub rivals and it would be fun to see the nuclear fallout if one of those two went to Chicago.

I follow baseball as much as the next person, but if you put a gun to my head and asked me who the Cubs manager was, I had no idea it was Mike Quade.

As far as Francona coming in, wasn't there supposed to be a rift between him and Epstein near the end of their Bosox reigns?

There may have been something between Francona and Epstein, can't remember. But they informed Ryne Sandburg that he wouldn't be considered because they want someone with major league managing or coaching experience.

But I wish him well but don't want him to win a WS at Chicago. It's kind of nice have the long suffering Cubs with no win at the fall classic.

I enjoyed the Boston sage for years. Now those boys could really come up with great ways to lose. I mean you just had to follow the Sox to see what new and unique ways they could blow up.

I think it might be in the New England Clam Chowder.
