Congratulations to Dario Franchetti for winning the Indy 500 for tha second time.  But did you see that wreck at the end of the race?  WOW, it is hard to believe that the driver was not seriously injured in that thing.  The reports are he has some orthopedic problems with his leg, but nothing serious.  Also Danica wound up finishing 5th.  Good race all around.

Didn't watch the whole race, just caught the end after bike ride.  Final results will be posted later, I guess.

both Indy Car and NASCAR races to NOT sit in the first 10 rows - especially in turns.  A lot of debris from that car went into the stands.  Years ago, in Albuq, I was sitting at the very end of the straight (dirt track) at a sprint car race.  One car hit another and as they tend to do, got airborne.  One car went directly over my head!  And I'm talking about missing me by 1 foot!

Indy Cars are tub shapped and when they get airborne the body acts as an airfoil.  Unlike the boxy NASCAR cars.   Personally I'm surprised that there aren't more serious injuries in Indy Car racing - especially on the supertracks.  The road courses of the old CART are much safer.

A good race to watch.  But I'll still take nitro drag racing any day.  IMHO

I'm on my way to Joliet (Chicago) on Wed for the next race.  LOVE that race track....fast surface and great air.  Thunderstorms...stay away.

Nitro!

The one NASCAR race I went to, the Firecracker 400, at Daytona when I was stationed in Florida, We spent the night before on the infield, at the entrance to pit road.  Great place to be, even tho it was a looonnng time ago.
