Umpire Needs to be fired

A dumb apology is not enough Umpires need to be held accountable!

Is it just me or have umpires become bigger than the game in baseball?

I cannot remember another season when umpires have missed so many calls this early in the season. I also cannot remember another season when so many seemingly routine calls have been missed.

Add to that all the complaints from players and fans alike of inconsistent strike zones, petty ejections and umpires who seem to have a bullseye on certain managers.

At what point does the credibility of the game begin to get damaged or how much longer can MLB defend it's umpires and still keep a straight face?

OUT-FUCKING-RAGEOUS.

Ray Charles could have got it right.

I agree the umpires suck more than usual this season.

One of the biggest problems if not the biggest problem, in my opinion, is the umpires FUCKING union.
as I understand it is part of the umpires contract that , if a manager, coach, player, owner, etc. criticizes an umpire they can be fined. And that SUCKS.

I think the umpires should be made to face the press after each game and answer questions, and if the umpires don't like it then FUCK em with a

Thank You

If baseball would join the 21st C. and employ instant replay for those calls the kid would have a perfect game and the ump would be off the hook.

what a rip off, they should overturn the call and give the man his perfect game!!

blowing a call? Would you feel the same way if a perfect game hadn't been at stake? I agree that officials should be acountable, but firing is a little drastic. If there was a pattern of imcompetence from this one umpire, maybe I could see it, but not in this case.

incompetence cost Gallaraga baseball immortality-Pathetic-screw apologies-get it right-the Blues get paid major bucks for doing a very simple job-This stinks! Shades of Don Dinkinger-How many more games are going to be effed up before replay isn't used? The umps blow too many-1rob...ranting...OUT

He was a really good resume as an umpire and has been working since 1989. If he was incompetant, they'd have gotten rid of him years ago.
They all miss em once in a while and he just picked a bad time to do it. Umpires have a tendancy be a little "prick-ish" so I was happy to see him admit that he'd made a mistake and I hope the Commissioner's Office does something about giving the kid his "no-no."

we're overlooking the game itself. Gallaraga pitched an absolutely fantastic game. He threw 88 pitches, 67 for strikes, and the game took only an hour and 44 minutes. And after the game, Gallaraga took the high road about the blown call and refused to say anything negative about Joyce.

that groundball. He was in perfect position to field and throw to first. If the first baseman had stayed on the bag and taken the throw, the play would not have been as close and we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Jim Joyce has a great rep. Sometimes bad calls come at the worst times. I feel bad for that kid.

I have never EVER seen an Ump admit to a bad call like that before.

This will be a easy boycott...I don't watch baseball anyway..

For a million dollars I couldn't name one other player who threw a perfect game including the most recent ones.. I saw the articles but skimmed too quickly since I don't watch baseball, including the World Series .. I doubt I ever forget Gallaraga and his show of class. If I am in town while he's pitching, I would like to see that game.
