Tourney expansion

The NCAA said that they are looking to expand the post-season tournament from 65 to 68 teams next year. This is a far cry from the 96 they were tossing around earlier. They also worked out a $10.8B TV package with CBS and TNT that will make it possible to broadcast every game live.

... by increasing the number of "play-in" games to four, one in each region.

Will be interesting to see if they persue this more down the line in years to come, or if this is the end of this discussion.

I don't think it will be the end of the discussion. There's always going to be the desire to get more teams in for the "money effect." But we'll see. I may be wrong.

68 is a way better idea than 96.  Now what you will have is teams playing a play-in game on a Tuesday night and having to travel to play again (vs. a #1 seed) on Thursday and similarly with Wednesday and Friday.  At least these 4 teams get an NCAA win before getting stomped.

If the play-in sites are pre-selected (like Dayton has been) and #1 seeds are kept close to home for fan base, then the travel could be somewhat significant.
