NBA Coach of the Year to Karl for the first time. I still think the Nuggets season was helped by their home court advantage, but Karl is one of the best coaches in NBA history, and is a great representative for the game as well. Anyone who didn't bust a cap in Melo's egomaniacal azz a few years back is a person of superhuman restraint.
And congrats to Hardy, who called it. While I think Mike Woodson has done a grat job keeping the Knicks focused and getting Anthony to think team, I will forever be happy to see any title to go someone else than Thug Melo and his thug in arms J.R. Smith.
I hope Indiana has enough gas in the tank to take the Knicks out (ESPECIALLY because they are the antithesis of the Knicks), but I am comforted knowing if they don't, the Heat without question will.
And as much as I know they won't win it all, effing love the Warriors. D'Antoni has got to be having deja vu from about eight years ago just watching them.
ecause as I recall one of those 2 guys is still going this year, while the other got smashed by a 6 seed. I still say karl is not the answer, hes the problem. he plays the wrong guys big minutes, jr smith could have had the year he had this year 5 years ago if karl would have given him more run than he did arron afflalo. karls teams always win a lot of games, but where are they come the second round? watching CARMELO and JR, that's where.
and calling melo thug is dumb. garnett is a wannabe thug. david west is a wannabe thug. Carmelo has had 2 incidents in 10 years, neither of which did he start. what you say is so ignorant. by the way, Indiana BETTER beat the knicks for your sake, because a little inside info for ya, NY won 3 of 4 vs Miami this year, including 1 when melo didn't even play. I know, I know...the playoffs are a different beast...isn't that what they said a handful of years back when 1 seed dallas got swept by golden state during the season, and they said the playoffs will be different, then golden state crushed em in 6? the knicks are not built to beat the pacers, they ARE built to beat the heat. just sayin
Wow. You have absorbed way too much New York air.
First off, and most importantly, I will bet you $50 right effing now that if New York and Miami play this year, Miami wins the series.
Second, you are talking about Garnett and West, who have known what the word "team" means all of their career, being "wannabe thugs" and putting a halo around the egomaniac that is Melo, and you are calling ME ignorant? Just a bit biased towards New York, perhaps?
Karl is a lock for the HOF. We'll see about the Thug Brothers...especially junior.
And last time I saw, Golden State should have been up on San Antonio 2-0, so that "six seed" sneer you have on your face is as foolish as your thinking NY could beat Miami.
kevin garnett never got out of round 1 of the playoffs until Minnesota put together the first "big 3" of the 2000s when the got Sprewell and cassell. he never won anything until he was paired with pierce, allen and rondo...3 future HOFers...why kg gets so much love is beyond me. he was THE prototype "me guy" until he got on a team where he wasn't the best player in boston. and let me repeat this KNOWING TIM DUNCANS MOTHER PASSED FROM CANCER, HE WALKED UP TO DUNCAN AND SAID HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TIMMY...THATS A PIECE OF SHIT FOR YOU. but id bet you my LIFE kg didn't want any part pf Duncan, just like he didn't want any part of Carmelo after he made the comments about the mans wife. and for the record, if you or kg or tom cruise or anybody else named my woman by name and made those type of comments, I would end your existence, so help me god I would. kg started that. let me guess, melo is a thug because of the tattoos right? by the way, melo WILL be in the HOF when hes done....book that shit. he is far and fucking away better than david west. as for JR, nobody said he was an all time great, but calling him a thug when there are guys like kg, pacman jones, ray lewis and others in sports...kinda dumb. seems like you just hate black guys with tattoos. kind of an ignorant way to think.
last I checked...that 6 seed blew a 16 point lead in 4 minutes and is down 2-1 to one of the most banged up teams still playing. that's why they are a 6 seed, and that's why George karl is not the real coach of the year.
oh yeah, kinda hard to breathe NY air from the south. and 3 wins in 4 games, that doesn't lie. that's not an opinion, its a fucking fact. but way to show you have balls and bet 50 bucks on the biggest favorite since the 98 bulls.
still a long way to go, but those young guns just tied the series up 2 games all. Oh, and don't worry, I know without a big man down low, it's a long long shot the Warriors can get to the Finals this year

it is the grizzlies conference title to lose at this point, was that way BEFORE little Russell westBRICK got hurt. there is only one man in the western conference that could have willed his team to even competing with the heat though, and KOBE BRYANT didn't get to play in the playoffs...
but yeah, nice job by golden state today. I hope they DO beat the spurs, but I wont consider it a huge thing. beat the heat, then we shall talk.
Um...I didn't say KG was a nice guy, I said he knew what the word "team" meant. And you seem to only equate winning with being worth anything...KG got a hell of a lot of respect from everyone in the NBA for staying in MN and leading by example on the court when he didn't have the right team, instead of whining like a little bitch like Melo did in Denver.
One of the most banged up teams playing is also probably the most respected team in the NBA for its coach and discipline, and is the most experienced. Who the fuck are you trying to kid?
And I said Karl didn't deserve COTY in the original thread about this, remember? And thought your coach would get it, remember? Dumb ass.
And that you didn't match the bet and just wanted to be a smart ass teaches me I never should have bothered with you...especially when you backpedal after saying about how well your team matches up against the Heat but now are saying my betting on them is weak cuz they are favorites. Uh huh. You just went out like a bitch.
Say what you want now, I'm done with this thread...and with you.
you twist words around because you have NO LEGS TO STAND ON and think IM THE BITCH???? whatever makes you sleep better. by the way, hope you had a great mothers day, what did your man get you?
arl has been a good coach in this league for a while. I figured he was over-due to win the award. There were a lot of excellent coaching jobs this year: Mark Jackson, Thibedeu, Vogel, Woodson all deserved consideration.
The bottom line is that the NBA is, and will always be a sport of hall of famers. If you have one (and in most cases two), then you have a chance to win it all. Take a look a the history of NBA Champions. Prob. the only team without a bonafide hall of famer on the roster were the 2003-04 Pistons (Chauncy Billups, Richard Hamilton)
I think that is what is going to hold the Knicks back. While Carmelo is a borderline HOF player (I think he at least needs to make an NBA final), I don't think you can win a title with JR Smith as your second best player. It was the problem that the Ewing Knicks faced. They could never get Patrick that second superstar. Frankly, their second best player for most of the Ewing years was Oakley. This Knicks team is good, but without a true second reliable option, they will fall short.
I just don't think anyone beats the Heat in the East. I thought Oklahoma City would return to the finals, but without Westbrook, they may not get past a vastly underrated Memphis team. Should be fun as it plays out.
what you say is true, but there are so many idiots that will blame melo for not winning a title like he is the main culprit. the best player he has EVER played with is JR Smith. think about that for a second. amare is a shell of what he was. chandler is nothing but dunks and rebounds. felton is way too streaky to take seriously, and doesn't get enough assists as a point guard to offset his bad scoring days. kidd is past his best days. shumpert is recovering from a bad injury and too young to judge just yet. billups was living on reputation by the time he got to Denver. Lawson wasn't developed yet. iggy, Wilson chandler, faried were not in Denver until after Carmelo left. Iverson was on a big, quick downward slope when he arrived. sure the scoring was still there, but he wasn't willing to be the 2nd best player on the team and it showed. I still to this day say that if melo wound up in Brooklyn or LA he would have been in better shape, and those teams would also be better off.
