Appreciate the kind thoughts---and to your point a couple of guys have stepped in to give us an unexpected lift--(Steve Pearce in particular). But come playoff time we're really going to miss Manny's defense at 3rd--he's got a cannon arm and unbelievable range. Right now they've got Chris Davis at 3rd and I'm not really sure how that arrangement's going to work out. (He's got enough to worry about at the plate trying to lift up that sickly .190 batting average!!)
I just have a bad feeling about this setback---it's coming at the worst possible time!! I sure as hell hope it doesn't send the team into a nosedive--(although I've got confidence that Buck will rally the troops and keep em' focused.) Thank God the AL East is as weak as it is this year---under normal circumstances losing two players like Wieters and Manny would be a death sentence!!
As a longtime O's fan I can't begin to describe how badly this SUCKS THE BIG ONE!! What looked like a potentially magical year for the O's has now taken a severe hit!! Such a damn shame---this kid looked to have such an incredible future and he's now undergoing a second major knee surgery in less than 12 months--and he's only 22!!
The O's are still having a magical year. Its not an easy division to play in when you got the likes of Yanks and R-Sox in there. With our star player Zim being out right now, I feel your pain. Other players have stepped up in our organization and are playing good fundamental baseball. And I am sure there are plenty of sluggers in O's organization that will step up - Nelson Cruz, Chris "Chrush" Davis et al. In a way I am glad Zimmerman's injury happened before 7-31 deadline. We could get Astrubal Cabrera, who has been sparkling some leather at the 2nd base.
Looks like O's and Nats will be in playoffs for the first time this year...
