I will say that Eli Manning is in the top 5 QB in the NFL today. Although it's 3 quarter and it's 10 - 14 SF I still concede this.

Actually, at the time you made you post I was just having some fun with you and the Giant fans. I know it may sound like a cop out at this point but it was a fun post. I was surprised at the time you didn't really call me out on the post and rake me over the coals.

As far as Falcco is concerned he is probably in the top 10. But you're Eli Manning is definitely in the top 5, win or lose tonight.

This is based on Peyton not playing again. Flacco played well yesterday but against a poor defense.

Brady,Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger, Eli

Now I'm being serious here, not trying to pull your chain.

I think Brady should be 1st we can differ there.

I would place Big Ben 4th ahead of Eli based on past record. Based on this year's performance it's pretty damn close due to Ben's injuries. Now if you drill me on this I won't holler much.

As for Flacco, he's good, but just good. He would make the top 10, but in big games, I don't know he can't make the critical play. Where as  Brady,Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger, Eli have all proved they can step up and make the plays to win.

Yesterday when I made the post NY was down, I think 3 points, but you could tell Eli was playing well as usual.

I probably like NE over the Giantsfor the SB, but I'm not sure they can win. lol

Fair enough!

just based on his record.  As for the SB, no surprise I'm picking the Jints, and the reason is simple.  I can see the Jints' defense being more effective against Brady than the Pats' D will be against Eli.  It's all about matchups.  Look how bad a great Ravens' D made Brady look.  But even a great SF D couldn't do that to Eli.  And, yes, I know the Pats' D is a "bend don't break" bunch, but there is no way they won't get lit up by Eli and those receivers.  The only wild card here is what Belicheck can figure out with two weeks of prep.  I just don't think there's a solution, any more than there's something to be "solved" against the Jints' D.  Great athletes who are smart enough to play within their scheme will ultimately get you.

How did Brady play? But for penalties, four interceptions in a championship game, so he only throws 2 interceptions.

Eli was amazing: he got pummled and never got rattled. He was throwing lazers just like he did against the Packers.  Giants beat the Pats twice this year -- and soon they will beat them 3 times.

....................................Manning should have been picked twice Sunday.
If (SF back) Goldson was 'doing his job' correctly, he would have allowed the covering backs to make very easy interceptions on key/point-scoring, NY drives.
(not to mention his over-zealousness took out one of his own starters!!)

And to take 'what if' slightly further, if the $10 million whiner/loser Assante Samuel catches an easy throw that 'elite' Eli throws right into his arms in the final drive of the '08 SB, Pats are immortal!!

But 'what if' doesn't win games; the final score does.
So be it.
