There is so much more research to be done on this concussion "epidemic" in the NHL. Shanhan's doing a decent job of changing that culture and mindset with his ironfist rulings on headshots. But there is a long way to go.
The league needs to slow the game down by going back to the original rules. IMHO the bulk of the concussions are a direct result of taking the red line (two line pass) out of the game and also restricting the goaltender from playing the puck ( another stupid change ). The average player is now 6'1" 200 lbs and he's hitting 60 MPH flying in on a fore check to knock the crap out of some dude with his back turned.

The trapezoid was put in because of Marty and the two line pass was taken out to speed the game up. Both were changed to increase scoring which it did and it also increased injures, mainly concussions. 60 mph was a figure of speech.
I defended Crosby for an entire year while even the most die hard Pens fans I know were calling him a pussy. Now I'm thinking they're right. The game didn't pick him, he picked the game as his career. He gets paid millions to play. No athlete in a heavy contact sport is 100% . The tough ones play and the pussies sit.
I have forgotten more about this game then you will ever know Mr. Alias. The players were getting bigger and faster every year. The speed was going to increase anyway. The clutching and grabbing had to go. Everyone knows about the trapezoid and two-line pass so don't pretend to be some expert here by quoting those two rules. When you get over your concussion-like symptoms, learn more about concussions and come back and post. Then again, it sure sounds like you have taken a few too many knocks to your head calling any concussed player a pussy for not playing.

The two rules mentioned were the subject of my OP douche bag and the base of the reason I feel the injuries are up. If you knew more about the game you would know that many feel the same way I do.
