Saban is a great college coach, but don't forget how bad he flopped as an NFL coach.........

I really did like seeing such a match up this early in the season, but I don't think anyone but the most rabid of Michigan fans really thought the Wolverines had a chance.

I don't usually bet a lot this early in the season, but when the line dropped to 13 from 14 I loaded up on this game. Roll Tide!!!

It was a very good weekend for gambling on college games. Shit, I even took Alabama. I'll also give credit to Alabama for scheduling a tough early game vs what the other SEC teams schedule before league. I swear half those schools the SEC plays in the first couple of weeks are all-girl school. (lol)

I doubt Kiffin will ever be able to walk the streets of Knoxville again without an armed escort, but it's not like anyone would miss Knoxville when having a job like head coach for USC.

and it' s not like he is going to be facing UT in a national championship game anytime soon either, but ASSUMING he gets to a title game, it's odds on that he will be facing someone from the SEC.

As for early season cream puff match ups, at least the Wolverines got beat by a REAL team and not by the likes of Appalachian St this year. If this game was supposed to prove that the Big Ten was back, they failed miserably

Gambling wise, yes this was a very good weekend, but I think I won a lot more on baseball than I did on football, Alabama was  a bright spot, but waking up to find out that Oregon went to sleep before the game ended to was not what I wanted to see this morning, Oh well, any week that I get to collect from the book is a good week, and I am collecting this week too.

I am a Wisconsin Badger fan but even I know we arent a TOP 5 team! cmon we barely got by Northern Iowa 26-21. Now you USC fans who think your team is Number 1... lets put it in perspective. lets have Michigan and Hawaii play. Yes we know it would be about 40-0 Michigan. So on opponents alone Alabama deserves to be Number 1 and Honestly, I think Saban is going for another title and then some!!!!

Saban is hardly the only NCAA coach who has flopped at the NFL level. Who was a bigger flop than fellow SEC coach Steve Spurrier? but he did go 5-0 in preseason. lmao I NEVER bet pre season football, but I bet on the Skins every preseason game that year. I certainly wasn't foolish enough to bet on them during the regular season that year, but I made a tidy sum betting on them when they were the only ones who cared if they won or lost.

It looks like another great year for the SEC, the rest of the NCAA should be grateful that they beat up each other during the course of the year, otherwise they might take 6 or 7 of the top ten spots every year. As it stands they occupy 5 of the top ten spots.

somewhat respect authority and the other game is loaded with a lot players who don't. Saban is an Authoritarian type coach/leader where a guy like Jimmy Johnson is not. He allowed U of Miami to go thug so the cross over to the NFL was easy and he had success. Harbaugh made the transition easy and is kicking ass because he's an equal being a QB in the game not that many years ago. Spurrier had been away from the NFL forever and failed now he's back and pretty damn close to becoming  the team to beat in the SEC East.

But all bullshit aside aside the only thing that truly matters is Saban's three Nat'l titles from two schools. And I bet he could do it outside of the SEC too. IMHO Urban Meyer is going to change the entire Big 10's way of thinking by the time he's done.

Yes I agree with you, there are many college coaches that failed in the NFL......

Bobby Petrino, Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier are classic examples to name a few. One coach that comes to mind as a success at both levels was Jimmy Johnson. Didn't hurt to have HOF'ers on his team though.

We both know the NCAA and NFL are two different animals. Saban is a great recruiter and has found his niche as the best college coach in the game right now.
