The Lakers will be getting Bosh, Steve Blake and Raja Bell

That's one I haven't heard. It would make sense to go after Bosh because of Bynum's knee issues.

I heard Bynum, Mbenga, Farmar, Shannon Brown And Sasha are all  on the cutting block.  They really want to cut Luke but nobody wants him.  
We will all know in a week.  Also, Phil Jackson is staying for another season.  YAY!!!

I think I head that about Jackson also. They're really cleaning house. That's surprising about Farmar. I would have thought they would try and keep him.

... no offense to Farmar, but he is at best a quality bench player.  The fact is, the entire NBA is filled with quality bench players.  A team like the T-wolves would pick him up and he most likely would be starting.

It would be foolish of the Lakers to sit back and do nothing.  Of all the teams, they should know that the west is only going to get stronger; and they only have top look back to this years playoffs.

To sit back and not be a presence in this years free agent market would be poor management.

Farmar is familiar with the system and has given good minutes in his backup role.

Look, with Farmar's experience/success/improvement with the Lakers, his stock has risen in the league.  Other teams would be willing to give something back in return: bench players, draft picks, etc.  Farmar will never be a starter on this Lakers team, but he can elsewhere.

Here is the problem with Farmer. He is undersized. He can't match up with the other larger point guards, i.e. Paul, Williams, Billups, Roy, etc. They overwhelm him with strength, size and speed. He can't match up with the smaller, but quicker guards, i.e. Nash, Rondo, Brooks, Nelson, etc.

Farmer is a penetrating type point guard. That is fine for the other 29 teams, but the Lakers run the triangle, and Jackson prefers bigger point guards to initiate the offense. OK now the argument about Fisher. Granted he is undersized as well, and he can't keep up with the quicker guards, but his knowledge of the triangle, leadership skills, and the occasional 3 point shot that wins games overshadows his faults.

Mbenga, Farmar and Brown are free agents.  The Lakers have talked to Brown's agent as well as Derek Fisher's about resigning them.  Bynum is under contract through 2013 but the report is that the Lakers are talking to Toronto about a sign-an-trade deal for Bosch that would include Bynum or Lamar Odom.

Bosh would expect a max contract via the sign and trade, which I think would be 6 years $120M. The Lakers are way over the salary cap, and Jerry Buss is looking to reduce payroll. The only way this works is for the Lakers to trade BOTH Bynum ($12M a year) and Odom ($8M per year) to make this a dollar neutral trade. Bosh at best is a Gasol lite type player. Why would they want another similar player? I would agree Odom for Bosh, but the $$$$ don't work. I really really like Bynum, but of course his knees are problematic. The question is Bynum injury prone.

I hope it all works out.  I heard all this from a good friend of mine who is in the Laker camp. And we will know in one week.

The one I really want to go is Luke Walton.  But no one wants him.  The Lakers have even tried to get him to retire early. He won't do it.
