RIP Alexis Arguello

"The Explosive Thin Man" has sadly passed away.

He was an incredible champion and his fight with Aaron Pryor in 1982 was incredible.  It's also the fight where the microphones picked up Pryor's trainer -- the now banned Panama Lewis -- calling for a special water bottle; I think he says "the one that I mixed."

His post-career life took a number of turns, but he was elected mayor of his hometown of Managua, Nicaragua, last year.

RIP Thin Man.  You earned the 10 counts that will run before fight cards around the World this weekend.

Alexis was a class act and a great fighter-He fought Pryor moving up a weight class or two-at 140, I believe and IMHO, Pryor was too big and could take punches which would have stopped smaller men-Pryor was a really good one too before the coke got him-Alexis will certainly be missed-Thanks for the post-1rob

I do still think that Boom Boom could have beat him in their first go round if he wasn't still in awe of his idol.

Alexis was also one of the class acts of boxing, I wish all fighters had his grace and courage.

I read the article yesterday. It was a shame his final 10 count was at the barrel of a gun.
As mentioned already, his first fight with Pryor was one of the best fights of all time.
