As I said I heard a 30 blurb of nothing here is Arizona and wondered what the real story was about. Your probably right, money talks.

BTW glads to see your a Yankee fan. Looks like you have 1 winner and 1 loser in the works with Big Ben back and the Yanks on the ropes. Not really fair for one guy having it all one way. Of couse I do with the Cheifs and Dodgers. That's all one way, the wrong way. LOL

on the Steelers Lb who says he is thinking of quiting the game because of the recent NFL rule change. I'm sure your up on it and probably more discussion in Pittsburg than the 30 seconds of media coverage.

...I only visit on Sunday during the football season! (a season ticket holder who attends several games a year)  I actually am a New Yorker, but have been following the Black and Gold religiously since my very young days in the 70's.

The Outside LB you are referring to is James Harrison. He is a 3 time Pro-Bowler and 2008 defensive player of the year. He is someone who has really worked his way up the NFL food chain to become a star. He spent a few years on the practice squad, was actually cut by the Steelers (then signed by the Ravens who also cut him), before sticking back with the Steelers. He was a spot starter and played mainly on Special teams in 2004-2006 before becoming a full time starter in 2007. He is someone who has been relentless in his desire to becoming a star. Of course fans remember him from the Super Bowl against the Cardinals two years ago when he intercepted Warner and returned it 100 yards for a TD to close out the first half...one of the best individual plays in Super Bowl history

To the issue at hand. He was just fined $75,000 for the two "supposed illegal hits" this past Sunday. Both hits knocked the Browns players out of the game. I think Harrison is just frustrated that, with the possibility the NFL could suspend him for what they perceive as a vicious hit, he will not be able to play the game with the same mindset (i.e. seek and destroy anyone in an opposing uniform). It's the only way Harrison has ever played the game and it is what makes him great. He is vastly concerned that the NFL will penalize him for his aggressive style.

Will he retire? Money talks. He would owe the Steelers millions of dollars. I doubt he would walk away. Coach Tomlin gave him today off to collect himself. Ultimately, I suspect that he (and all other defensive players) will play with the same style and passion. The action on the field happens so fast, that at times you can't think, you just have to react. As I mentioned in a previous post, this is going to be a nightmare for the league. Someone will get suspended (because someone has to be the example). How far they carry this out remains to be seen. Only time will tell how serious the NFL is in really suspending its players.
