What I saw of the race was exciting. I only caught the final twenty laps. I would have preferred somebody else to win as I am not a Tony Stewart fan. He was fastest in the end. Congratulations to Tony!

there has been alot of debate on nascar being a sport.  And its a sport in my book, along with the other 200,000+ thousand people that go.  I probably won't change your mind though.

I believe that it takes alot of endurance to drive 200 miles an hour in over a 100 degree weather sometimes, for 3-4 hours (500 mile races)  The average driver loses 10 lbs each race.  It takes alot of physical ability to have to concentrate under those circumstances with other cars just inches away.  Just my opinion.

OK....I have some authority to speak on this

I played two years in the minor leagues in baseball.  Never made it to the majors but I got to AA ball.  So I was in the upper teir of all people who play baseball.  And I also played national level fast pitch softball for 20 years.

The other passion is auto racing. I've driven SCCA and drag racing for 30 years.  The mental and physical challenges of sports car racing is amazing.  So the NASCAR, F1 and professional sports car racing (ALMS, SCCA, Rolex series, etc.) takes a lot of stamina, hand eye coordination and....BRAVERY!

There is one quote that I should have looked up before posting:  somebody said (paraphrasing here):  "there are only two sports: "boxing and auto racing - all the others are just games."

I've found NASCAR to be much less fun since the COTF is involved.   The professional drag racing - especially the two fuel classes really get me going.  Until you've seen a top fuel or funny car up close and personal...well, it's impossible to describe the power.

will rattle your brains.  Been to one drag race and I couldn't believe how loud the funny cars were.  I bet driving one of those cars is a super adrenaline rush!  It was for me just watching.  Madison
