Andy Pettitte retiring.

ESPN is reporting that Andy Pettitte will retire rather than come back for the 2011 season. He won 240 regular season games and 19 in the post-season. I actually think he will be in the Hall of Fame someday, although not on the first ballot. Yes, he used HGH, but he admitted it, rather than keep denying it like Clemens and Bonds. After he owned up to using it, no one brought it up anymore.

will be very difficult to replace. Very few athletes are as mentally tough as he. The Yankees will not be able to replace him. Few pitchers have Pettit's mental calmness.

I heard that in his retirement statment to the press he left the door oped for a come back, but not this year. If he does it would be in 2012 , and would therefore be part of 2012 = 29

thank You
2011 = 28

It may be time for the Yanks to transition themselves for future victory.  That means accepting that we may not win for a couple of years, allowing prospects to bloom and not trade them away in a futile effort to win now.

Can you say Derek Jeter, Mo, Jorge?    If Burnett returns to form, and Hughes and Joba become the studs they are capable of being, we can beat those nasty Red Sox!   They suck, regardless...
