Detroit Lions Hall-Of-Fame Tight End Charlie Sanders lost his battle with cancer this week. Being a football fan and growing up in Michigan in the early 70s, it was hard not to notice the play of Charlie Sanders.
He was one of the main reasons I became a lifelong Lions fan. He epitomized the blue collar ethic of his adopted hometown, and was so enamored with the Lions organization, that he remained affiliated with the team for 43 years. I was so happy and proud when he was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
