The NFL Referees are on the take

That had to be the most blatant display of referee corruption I have ever seen. The Steelers get awarded the ball and the game after Ben Rothlisberger fumbles at the one. For shame roger goodell and officiating staff. I thought that only the NBA and WWE had corrupt officials but I guess they ahve company now.

... longer and would have seen a Charger (no. 59) come out of the pile with the ball.  Sure, there's biting and other shenanigans going on in the pile but at least it would have been determinative.

Brandon Siler (no 59 on the Chargers) was thousands of miles away at the time, playing his own game against the Pats.

This does not surprise me at all.  The last two Super Bowl the Steelers won they got some serious help from the refs, especially the one against the Seahawks

has since apologized. Even with his apology the damage is done. Niether Ben nor the ball crossed the goal line. I wonnder if there is a conspiracy to help the steelers or just a coincidence?

There are PLENTY of games in the NFL where there was an OBVIOUS blown call at the end of the game. This was NOT one of them.

First, they did NOT give Ben the touchdown (that would have been a blatant miss-call). Clearly he fumbled prior to getting in the endzone. The rule is that if the Refs can not determine who had possession of the ball at the bottom of the pile (replays were inconclusive) that the ball goes back to the offense. So the Steelers were awarded the ball at the spot of his fumble and allowed to kick what turned out to be the game winner.

Second, please don't tell me, "well the Dolphin player came out with the ball". Do you know how many times "possession" changes at the bottom of an NFL scrum pile? Quite a few. The Steelers could have had possession first and then the ball was ripped away and then ripped back by the Steelers, only to have the Dolphins take it back at the end. Nobody could determine clear possession.

Third, good NFL teams simply do not let the game be determined by one play. The Steeler FG was kicked with WELL over 2 minutes left. PLENTY of time for the Dolphins to drive into FG range for their own game winning FG attempt. Did they? No, the Steelers shut them down on the final drive. Moreover, Miami was in Pittsburgh territory all day. Pittsburgh fumbled the opening kickoff and then fumbled deep in their territory on their next drive. Instead of kicking two FG's, how about putting the ball in the endzone?? If Miami was up 14-0 instead of only 6-0, the outcome may have been different. Miami settled for 5 FG's along the way. If you are kicking that many FG's and you loose the game by a point, you have NO ONE to blame but your offense's inability to generate TD's.

then you guys can have the Lombardi trophy. Why play the game.

There is no explanation for pretending that nobody recovered. Downright silly.

How exactly did the Steelers cheat??? Did they play with 12 men on the field the entire time? Did they steal the Dolphins play signals or their play book? Did they wear stick-em on their jerseys the whole game?? You get the point. To say the Steelers cheated is ridiculous. Were they on the right side of one  call at the end of the game? Today they were; many times over the years they haven't been But accusing them of cheating to win is assinine and out of line.  An officials call is out of the control of either team.

2. Second, NOBODY said the ball was"not recovered". The official pointed out that it was inconclusive to determine who had possession of it. NO ONE COULD TELL. They didn't give Ben the TD, they gave the Steelers the ball at the 1/2 yard line. That was the RIGHT CALL based on the circumstances of the events. Find me a conclusive re-play that shows the Dolphins recovered the ball. If you do, I'll admit the Dolphins got screwed. Until then, settle down.

3. As I said before, the Dolphins had many chances to win the game. Put the ball in the endzone once in awhile instead of kicking 5 FG's and you don't loose.

4. Finally, all your talk of "conspiracies" and refs favoring teams is also ridiculous. IF NFL games were fixed, why have the Lions only won ONE playoff game in virtually 60 years? Why have the Browns not won a championship since the 60's? Why haven't the Jets won another Super Bowl since 1969? When was the last Eagles championship? (still waiting) . Surely, if the NFL is fixed, the league office would have thrown them a bone every once in awhile and allowed them to win a championship by now. They haven't won BECAUSE THE NFL IS NOT FIXED!!! Can we get a grip on reality, please.

you can argue that it's a bad rule, but not that the Steelers cheated, or even that the refs made a bad call. The rules are the rules, and it is an imperfect system. It sucks when those bounces go the wrong way, but shit happens.

Calling the Steelers "cheaters" is a bit over the top. actually a lot over the top., but fans will be fans.

I just hate it when you use logic and knowledge to argue your point. LOL Makes me think your a cold analyist without any fan emotion. Now I had the damn Steelers, but still and all it would have been fun for Miami to win that one. I bet on the games but it's just a few bucks, not enough to even worry about just something to make it more interesting.

I agree the replay probably wans't conclusive and when did the damn whisle blow or the play end and who the ball when that happened. We get these ref calls every year and it's part of the game and probably every team has one or two. However, is there any truth to the rumor that the Steelers always seem to be on the receiving side of the ifee calls? LMFAO.
