Not that he used them (duh), but that he admitted to it.

to eventually get into the HOF.  I also don't think it will work, but what do I know?

Big deal, they were legal when he did them, so BFD.  At least he is now honest, not like a certain former SF Giant.

That's kind of the way I look at it as well. It wasn't against the rules at the time and he didn't lie about it under oath but rather dodged the questions.

Rose's numbers are valid, McGuire's numbers are not.
Pete should eventually be voted in. Not McGuire.

The whole steroid error is a mess. Do you count a home run if a batter on steroids hit one off of a pitcher on steroids?

that he's full of shit.  Taking steroids to get healthy and not enhance his statistics - what a crock!  They should NEVER vote this guy into the HOF!

One of the benefits from taking steroids is that they give you a quicker recovery time from injuries, soreness, etc. From that standpoint, they absolutely benefitted him as he was able to heal and recover much quicker than the average player...assuming that everyone else wasn't taking them. There's just no way to tell how many players were taking them and how many records and stats were affected by them. Some of this stuff can be taken orally as well and doesn't require injections.
