correction: 'PARTICIPATION' in 2 AFC Championship games (0 wins)!! Which means...........................nothing, nada, nein, bubkis, zilch!
And you missed a coach in your list of those who actually deserve the pedestal beneath them. 3 Lombardi trophies in 4 years................surpassing most on your list.
It is obvious signing albert was a move of desperation. He is a shadow of player he was with titans, look at game tapes, there is no comparison, he is done as a player, ok he didnt play well in redskins, are you, telling me shanahan knows nothing about football, he was that way out of shape , how can he play football. I guarantee he will be a 3rd down specialist not an everydown lineman. I am so surprised bill has gotten this desperate for a finished player. Same thing for chad johnson, he is 30 yrs old, he has no more speed, only a strong ego who is more interesting on tweeting than playing, what happens to TO and chad johnson friendship. Plaxico on underhand was a brilliant move by greatest coach in nfl, his name is rex ryan, greatest coach ever, proud to be a new yorker,
...taken Dan Snyder with him! I am not a Redskin's fan, but the team will never amount to anything, until Dan Snyder stays away from the practice field. Even the Buc's and Falcon's improved, once they were out from under family control. Hugs and Kisses
This is the reason Bill Belichick continually trades/acquires draft picks before and during the draft. What many so called experts/fans perceive as a ridiculous strategy (after all, he can't possibly use all these picks he obtains) is in fact a brilliant strategy that leaves the Patriots with many options. Because they have multiple picks at their discretion, they can use them on low risk/high reward players.
The Pats can take chances with players like Randy Moss, Albert Haynsworth and Chad Johnson. Exactly what did New England give up to acquire Big Al and Chad? 5th and 6th round draft picks...no big deal. The reward of acquiring these two players clearly outweighs the risk. Both players could be cut tomorrow and the Patriots wouldn't miss a beat nor would their future drafting be adversely effected in any way. Time will tell if either player has something left on the field but its no big deal to the Pats if they don't.
In terms of the Jets signing Plaxico, lets temper the enthusiasm. The man hasn't played in two years and his skills were declining when we last saw him in 2008. But on the flip side, a 3 million dollar one year investment is not that big a deal, so the Jets do stand to look good if Plax has anything left.
The only difference with the Jets bringing in Plax and the Pats bringing in Chad, is that the Jets are relying on Plax this year. They are not bringing back Edwards and Cotchery is for the moment, hurt. They need Plax to be a solid #2 receiver to Santonio. On the other hand, the Pats view Chad as a luxury. They have two excellent pass catching TE's, plus Welker, plus Branch. Oh yeah, plus the Patriots have Brady who could prob. make me look like a legitimate NFL receiver.
Rex Ryan has done a very good job in two seasons. Two AFC Championship game appearances is certainly more than credible. But before you put him on a pedestal with the likes of Lombardi, Halas, Brown (Paul not Mike), Landry, Noll, Shula, Belichick etc; let's have Rex actually win a couple (or even one) of Super Bowl titles first.

was being pressured. The Jets pass rush was excellent. Notice though that Brady's receivers were not getting open. Brandon Tate is fast, but he is essentially a seem runner. Easy to defend. Welker was limited by his ACL injury. Deion Branch is old and short. Who were the leading Patriot receivers, a pair of tight-ends Gronkowski and Hernandez. A passing offense such as the Patriots need a receiver to keep the defenses honest.
Chad may not be as fast as he once was. Does not matter. He is fast enough. Chad is an excellent route runner, and is brilliant in making adjustments when the quarterback gets in trouble. and as you said, he was cheap. Under the new CBA agreement, veterans do not count as much against the cap. I hate the Patriots, but damn, Belichick and his best friend and tactician extraordinaire, Ernie Adams are always keeping New England competitive.
