Jason Bay to the NY Mets and Mark Derosa to the SF Giants!  What's going on in bean town?
Maybe the Giants can get into the mix in the West!

They got Escobar to help in the bullpen, but he has a history of injuries and still hasn't proven that he can be a consistent performer.

Its funny what a year does. Before last season, the Mets were considered one of the favorites in the NL. Then injuries to Reyes, Wright, Delgado, Beltran, Maine and Santana coupled with the complete ineffectiveness of Pelfrey, and all of a sudden 2009 was a complete debacle for the Mets. At least on some level, you have to assume that the injury bug wont hit that hard again.

While I think Jason Bay is a nice complementary player (who should produce 25-30 homers and drive in 100 runs), I dont believe he is an elite player; i.e. a real difference maker. He was, however, the best offensive (along with Matt Holiday) free agent they could get and had to pay him as such. They had to overpay, but he should definitely help. Simply the Met fan base was not going to accept the team sitting back and doing nothing.

However, they still need a front line #2 pitcher to back up Santana. You simply cant count on Pelfrey, Maine and Perez. Apparently, Carlos Zambrano of the Cubs is avaialble in a trade....that's the type of pitcher they need to slide in behind Santana.

Memories of a rainy night last spring...an incredible dinner date with my ATF.  Then, on the way home, analysis of the baseball season...with the '96 victory dance played randomly on another channel on Sirius...I knew then we were going to win.

Then came the night in Philly for Game One...with another lady in the circle.  The Philly fans kicked us out of the restaurant, we had dinner elsewhere, and a great evening between us, even if the Phiilies won.  Next night, back in NY for the Mixer, Yanks won, unbelievably great overnight with the same lady.  Good karma prevailed....

I can't predict 2010 yet...it has to get here first!
