belived it was for a 37 year old 270 hitter. And that was last year. Now what will the fans say if Jetter hits 250 and the hole left of second base is wider, double plays drop off and errors go up.

I think the Yankees are taking a chance here. But, maybe Boston will hit their ground balls to right field.

It's been a while but I don't recall the Yanks in the World Series, some team from Texas, yea Texas and San Francisco. So how does Jetter improve the club?

Oh well, I'm happy if the Yankee fan are happy.

.270 average he hit in 2010.

Did anybody notice how Jeter hit below .240 during the 2010 ALCS series with the Rangers.

No wonder NY only won 1 World Series in the last 10 years the curse of the Jeter plagues them.

pay Babe Ruth or Jolton Joe. It's really quite simple. For the good of the game owners need to pay players for there worth on the field. Jetter will occupy a place in the lineup just like Farve at Minn. A younger player who has as much talent and bigger future will remain in the AA or AAA ball or on a taxi squad.

Maybe he was a great Yankee , now he is an aging ballplayer with a big ego. Common sense says it's time to walk away.

But if the Yankee's think they can hit the ball, field and drag Jetter and beat Boston I'm all for it. It will be interesting.

On the other hand no one turns on the Yankee stars like the New York fan if the Star isn't delivering. Look how many times and how often they get on A-Rod when he's in slump.

I remember mine. No one with a bit of sense ever expected Jeter to play for anything close to $6mm a year.

I am glad he has an agent with better math skills than you. lol

I am not going to argue with you about his skills, just the salary he can command.  You can argue all you want about whether or not he is "worth" the money, but not about the size of the contract he signed.

"Wait until the end of the contract" You will not have to wait that long. After the bum Jeter hits his 3,000 hit sometime in late July or August; the fans will start booing him for his lousy batting average and hitting into so many double plays. Joe Geradi will probably bat him 8th or 9th in the batting order by that time.

16 million a year talk about a pay downgrade based on his 22 million 2010 salary.

Derek Jeter is the next coming of Carl Pavano. He will average 200-300 plate appearances per season while his aching bones are relaxing on the DL while still collecting his paycheck and the 3 million buyout he'll get in year 4 for riding on the bench during the 2012-13 seasons. So 51 million  over 4 years averages 12.75 million a year for a future DL player like Derek Jeter.

So yah I was right Mr. Ga Gambler

Clearly the Yankees only offered 6 million when Jeter's agent was demanding 25 million per year for 6 years.

That is a 19 million difference so an annual salary of 12.75 million is clearly much closer to his actual talent value of 6 million.

4 years topping off at 1000 place appearances is clearly what I am expect from the aching Derek Jeter.
