The Kings are a long way from moving to Anaheim. The NBA owners haven't approved the move yet and the Lakers and Clippers will do everything they can to keep the Kings out of SoCal. The owners are strapped for cash and would have to pay Sacramento $76 million plus a relocation fee to the NBA.
true, but I think they are going to find a loop hole somewhere. The owners indeed are strapped for cash, they also wanted a new arena and could not agree on location, price etc..
Now talks of RON BURKLE the owner of Pittsburgh Penguins trying to buy the Kings, to keep them in Sacramento, but the maloofs saying they dont want to sell. So he says he might buy a NEW team to put in Sacramento...
The population of Las Vegas is in the 1.5-2 million people range. Sadly about 23 of us have jobs these days, but we're here. Additionally, since LV is a destination location, fans of the visiting team could come to town for the game, see some shows, gamble and pick up a hooker or two. The real issue with most sports organizations is the fear that someone would bet on the local game, because that would be SOOOOO much different than calling a bookie.
As much as Oscar wants to bring the NBA to Vegas, many of the residents remember the fiasco that the allstar game was when it was in Vegas. Granted, the quality of fans then were on the low end of the gene pool, but if you ask many of the restaurant employees and cab drivers, about their experiences with the "fans", they will not be too happy to see them return in the future. Many people were not and are still not empressed with the NBA experience.
Vegas, Baby! I'm totally not familiar with the situation. But good golly, aren't the Clippers struggling for fan support. Just can't see three teams in one market. With the Maloof's business connections to Vegas, I'd suspect they'd prefer to move there. But maybe the NBA has a "Not In Vegas!" clause! I dunno

The Clippers averaged only a little less in attendance than the Lakers. This season the Clippers averaged 17,700 vs. 18,900 for the Lakers. The capacity of Staples Center for basketball is 19,000.
