one of the most amazing basketball feats in NBA history took place in Hershey, PA. Wilt Chamberlain dropped 100 points on the Knicks. The closest anyone has come since then was Kobe Bryant's 81 points against Toronto in 2006. A career 51% free throw shooter, Wilt hit 28-32 foul shots that night. In my humble opinion, this is one record that will never be broken, along with DiMaggio's 56-game hit streak.

My vote goes to Gretski . 215 points in one season, against men on ice trying to annihilate him stands much stronger  than a 7 ' 1" man who can touch a ten foot rim without jumping .

If basketball is your bag,  6'0" Danny Heater scored 135 points in a High School game.

The 100 point game by Wilt is one of them.  So is the Clipper's 56 game streak, Cy Young's 511 wins (and 315 losses), Hack Wilson's 190 RBI, and Sam Crawford's 312 career triples.  As far as HR records in MLB go, Maris and Aaron stand supreme...no juice to pad the stats.   Some of the records that Wayne Gretsky set in the NHL also seen unassailable.

So true !  The Great one holds 61 NHL records.

By comparison to Gretzky , Wilt would had to have 20 100 PT games , Jimmy Johnson would have to win 10 more NASCAR titles , Breese would have to throw for 1000 yards a game for 5 seasons straight so on and so on. SI did an article on it once and the comparisons were insane .

playing for Furman vs. Newberry College.  In his cse, the last 2 points were a half-court heave at the final buzzer.  In this game as welll, there was no 3-point shot, it's been estimated that about 12 of his baskets would hae been 3-pointers.
