Until someone stops them on a consistent basis, they will remain at the top of their respective game.

The mentality you speak of, has never been (and never will be) the manner by which professional sports operates.  I, for one, am quite glad for that fact as well!

So, do you root for the Washington Generals, too, when they take the court against the Globetrotters?
