still have a shot at the playoffs going into this weekend. The NFL likes parity I guess. Dogs have been rolling the last few weeks. Even my team, the cursed NY Jets still can get in.

I think it adds tremendously to fan interest.  Some teams still tend to do better over time, but there's much more equality when compared to MLB.  As for the Jets, well, they're the Jets.  If there's a way to fuck up, I guarantee the Jets will find it!

In the NFL most games actually MEAN something every week.  Of course neither the Giants nor the Jets have earned shit this year.

You got that right. As soon as players and coaches put on the green and white they forget how good they used to be....."Blair Thomas...the best running back I ever coached."" Why did Joe Paterno have to say that before the jets drafted him

Teams had to have 10 wins to at least get in.  The good ol' 'ten and you're in.'  But last year killed that when teams with 8 and 9 wins were in the playoffs.  It will be an interesting two weeks to say the least.

Two years as a season ticket holder of 3- 13 and 1-15 futility in the last year.  The length of time between home wins was almost two years...ouch!  Since then, I have watched the Jets and G-men go back and forth...the latter can at least win!  No matter what the Jets do in the remainder of the season, they will get knocked out the play-offs if they improbably make.  Same could be said about the Giants, but they have the ability to arise and beat the best teams

they looked like dogs at the end of the year. Chris Collingsworth said, the Cards were the worst playoff team in history. Oh well, they came within a couple of minutes of winning the Super Bowl. It's the way the NFL wants things.

For the most part the NFL has now become a complete crap shoot. Gone are the days when teams would make the playoffs for a decade straight. The 49er's for example from 1983-1998 won at least 10 games a year...that is an unbelievable run of consistency. (I think they may have only missed the playoffs once in that span)

Ever since the Rams went from 4-12 to winning the Super Bowl in 1999, the NFL has become a league of parity (some will call it mediocrity). We simply do not know who is going to be good (Colts and Peyton Mannning the seemingly lone exception) year after year. That's the way the NFL wants it. New division winners each year keeps NFL fans hopeful.

I will say this year is a little unique as you could have 2 9-7 or worse teams in the AFC alone making the playoffs...last year for instance the 11-5 Patriots did not make the playoffs.

you have a tendency to get first round/ wildcard blowouts. Even worse, the 8-9 win teams win first round and then get blown out in Div. round. The more the merrier I guess. You will see some big spreads in the Playoffs this year!!

Ughhhh, Joe Walton dats, Bruce Coslet days....the list goes on and on. My father started taking me to Jets games at Shea in the 70's. I have had seasons since the 80's. Ever since they did away with Namath the team has been cursed. I remember when they hired Kotite...Leon Hess..." I like richie...he is a real deez, dems and dozer type of guy"...

Have a great season and then eat shit in the first round of the playoffs :)  It works both ways and last year was a great example of that.  It will be interesting to say the least.

Distant for the Jets, possible for the Giants.  I wouldn't bet a nickel on the Jets, but on the G-men, different story.  They are good enough to surprise, and win four games against the best...worth a dark horse entry when I visit Vegas in a couple of weeks, assuming they make it, which is a stretch...
