..an intense next 3 weeks for several teams in the National League! Philly and Hotlanta, going toe to toe, have 6 games against each other. But it's looking like both will make the playoff. Cincy has the Central pretty much under control, but St Louis could make a run yet. Then there's the Wild Wild West. Rockies are on a 10 game win streak (hmmmm, deja vu?) and the Padres have stumbled. So three teams battling for the West crown, with the other two likely cleaning out their lockers Oct. 4. However, have we ever had a 3-way division tie? Intriguing and certainly possible.
I know football season has begun.....but there's some great baseball to be played yet.
My prediction:
NY, TB, Minn and Tex in the AL with Minn taking the AL Championship Philly, ATL, Cin and Colo in the NL with Philly taking the NL Championship
AL East: Open, but it doesn't matter. Yanks and Rays are both in. AL Central: Twinkies again. White Sox will come up short. AL West: Rangers are home free.
NL East: Phils will win the division. Braves may win the WC, but this not certain. NL Central: Reds. Cards are too far behind, with too few games left. They may make a run, but will fall short. NL West: Going out on a limb, but I say the Rockies. Deja Vu all over again. SD or SF will compete for the WC, and it will go down to the final w/e for all three teams, and with the Braves.
NL: West - Padres need to beat on Giants to have a chance but they have to worry about the Braves beating them out for the wildcard. Rockies Still pull ahead and win the West. Central - Cincinnati just looked good against the Central but seemed to strugle against the East. That may be a factor to concider come playoff time. East - It's hard to tell, but it looks like Phily will beat ATL by to in the end with the Braves taking the wildcard.
As far as a 3way tie. Not likely, but it would be fun to see happen.
AL: West- Texas just dominated the way the Angels did about 5 years ago. They should do well. Central - Minnesoda has probably the best team in the Majors right now despite the Yanks. East- New York is gonna win no issue. The issue is will TB actually make them work for it.
In the end. I think Atlanta is a solid team and has alot of guys wanting to get Chip another WS ring before he retires as well as Bobby. The win the NL after going 6 games in the NL Series.
