The anticipation of the opening ceremonies is driving me crazy lol and am wondering what spectacular events they have planned.

I'd like to know what is your favorite event - mine is Women's Soccer as I used to play soccer (when my knees were good lmao) and they always play great matches.  Second to that is women's gymnastics and then track and field.  Swimming is always fun to watch as well especially when they are a close call to the finish line.

I am drawn to the equestrian events and will be watching them on Sat July 28th with my DVR by my side. It's hard to find such events on TV so this is real special to me. I spent summers as a kid working at a racetrack caring for the horses and had a friend who's parents owned a stable of beautiful horses.

Gymnastics is the other must see for me. I love the men's and women's events and am always in awe at the strength and gracefulness they achieve.

My brother in law owns and trains race horses at Calder and Gulfstream, but thanks to the Casino's horseracing has gone downhill and fast.  Also due to the economy a lot of people can't afford to own horses anymore.  He now finds jockeys rides.

I don't have one favorite event, but I am in awe of these incredible athletes. The physical talent, the dedication and hard work, the sacrifices of the athletes and often their entire families, the sweat, the tears, the pressure etc.
These kids spend their entire lives training for this one moment, and it often comes down to fractions of a second, or fractions of an inch. What's also amazing is when an athlete dominates. Whether its Phelps or Bolt, it's blows my mind to see these guys be head and shoulders above the best in the world.
The opening and closing ceremonies is icing on the cake. It's all good. Enjoy.

and i hope the US teams do really well, but other than the basketball, none of it matters to me. i dont care about mens gymnastics, softball, etc. i hope we win a ton of gold, but i want it to be over as soon as possible

.....during the Olympic Games, and it was a great experience!  Long, but great!
