I sure do respect his game and competitiveness on the basketball court, especially with what he has already accomplished. He and Dellavadova show more heart and desire, I think, than the entire GS team right now.
Dellavadova cramping up reminds me of the 1989 French Open when 17 year old Michael Chang played against 29 year old three time French winner Ivan Lendl. After losing the first two sets in the best of five set match, and more than four hours of play, Chang could barely move because of cramps and had to sometimes serve underhand because he could not go up on his toes. Leading 2-1 and about to serve in the fifth and final set, Chang said that he almost went to the umpire to say he just couldn't go on anymore. But he went on anyway, badly losing that serve. The match was then all square, with the six foot two inch big boy serving for the lead. Curry, and the entire GS team, need to watch what happened next...
In a sport that has no substitutions, no timeouts, only a rest period of 90 seconds after every two games, and no coaching whatsoever during the match, Chang's effort is a testimony as to what the human body can endure and accomplish when your heart and will are strong. The great Vince Lombardi said that best in what was to be his last public speech. It was given in Dayton, Ohio 1970-great reading.
This is turning out to be a great series---it's just a matter of who wants it more. And that's hard for us, as fans, to judge. But I predict coach Kerr, as a great ex-player himself, will put a fire under his players' asses and GS will win in seven.
