ESPN sports ticker is reporting that the Cowboys will "very likely" name Jason Garrett as their head coach. I think it's a good move because the 'Pokes have shown some life since he took over, and I would like to see what he can do over a full season.
Personally, I think it's the ONLY move for Jones. Garrett has shown he will work with him. If they ;looked for someone else, the pressure would be on from the fans to get someone established who could produce results quickly (given that they have a decent roster already), and how many estblishe dcoaches would be willing to work with Jones at this point?
Jerry is next to impossible to work with. Jason has been in the cowboys system for many, many years and clearly can handle working with Jerry. Of course he is a new head coach and one has to work their way up in status by gaining experience. He will pay his dues working with Jerry and when he gains that experience and status he will be gone. Buh-Bye and will be completly marketable since he has worked with the biggest pain in the ass in the league therefore could work well with anyone.
It is a win/win for both parties. I am all for it and think he will do great.
Dear Ms. Prescott: You are right. Also this is a time for Jason to begin to put his imprint on the Dallas organization by now figuring out who he wants to draft to make the team better and also putting his strategies and philosophies to work so he can be successful in the NFC East. Further more the team is still responding to his messages and being a second generation NFL coach he know when he has the collective ear of the team and the full support of management which is key in taking over a team. Now he has the coach with out spending all of the big money for a big name that is going to want all sorts of control over the team from a managerial prospective. Now if he can get some of those high priced free agents out of there and draft and develop talent well then Dallas should be able to turn the corner, which should be no small feat considering that Philadelphia and New York are in the same division and are fairly cogent and consistent teams.
