ESPN is reporting that the A's have agreed to a 1-year, $500K deal with Manny Ramirez. Before Manny could be Manny, he would have to serve a 50-game suspension for violation of the MLB drug policy, putting the earliest he could play at 02 June. One the surface it would seem to be a low-risk signing for Oakland but, for the life of me, I can't understand why someone would waste money on this clown. He'll turn 40 in May and his skills have eroded since he stopped taking female hormones, not to mention the drama he brings with him, and the media circus that seems to follow him around everywhere.
