After they were down 3-1 to St. Louis, I thought the Cardinals were a sure thing. Shows how much I know. They're the 1st NL team to sweep the Series since the 1990 Reds swept Oakland. Great team effort all around and a great managing job by Bruce Bochy.

The Giants played great and Bochy was flawless in the way he managed the bullpen.
I must give props to the Giants. They staved off elimination against the Reds, and the Cardinals, and then rode that momentum to a World Championship.
Although it is of very small consolation, the Tigers did make it to the World Series, and swept the hated, "evil empire" in doing so-a fairly successful season no matter which way you look at it.
Unlike 2006, the Tigers did not get beat by an inferior team in this World Series. Although I do think that they got "out managed" by a superior manager once again.
Their bats went ice cold, and their bullpen is a mess, but they should contend for a world title for years to come.
So, celebrate San Francisco. You certainly deserve it (2 championships in 3 years), but the year of the Tiger will come!
