Phoenix Open has a new sponsor - what do you think

The Phoenix Open has been called that for years but then they added corportate sponsorship.  So for the past few years it was the FBR Phoenix Open but the economy they pulled out.  Now there is a new sponsor AND they changed the dates.  It is now called...

Waste Management Phoenix Open.

It is now a garage golf tourney...great - NOT.  It has always had a respectful name and one of the biggest attendence of any tourney.  Now with the Tiger Woods scandal doesn't golf have enough to deal with without a garage company sponsoring our esteem tourney?

As a native of Arizona - this is wrong!!  Plus that company has had ties to the mafia.  So very wrong.

tournament is one of the best on tour. One big party weekend, and a lot of hot girls. I try to attend as often as I can. Golf is just used as an excuse to party. In 2nd place is the Byron Nelson in Dallas.

Will you be trolling the fairways?

My dad used to tease me and say "Well did you enjoy the gold tourney?" and I used to say "What golf I just came here to drink and look at the hot football and hockey players"! He would always ask if I at least saw some golf and I said sure when I went out to see one of my friends finish the 18th hole I would go say HI.:)

I thought that one was fun until I went to the Phoenix open for my previous job many moons ago and man it put the Byron to shame.  Now that one's a PARTY!

But now it is the garbage open AND they changed the dates.  It now at the end of February.  Guess they were trying to avoid our "rainy" season.

at Torrey Pines....but it still sounds hokey.

And the LA Open has had so many sponsor changes that I still don't know who to thank (j/k, Northern Trust)

The PGA Tour is on thin ice and if Tiger does not "get over" his sex addiction soon (yeah......right) the purses and number of events are sure to drop.
