As a fan of the loosing Super Bowl team, it is a LONG offseason. In a 6 point game, turning the ball over 3 times (and one of the turnovers an interception return for a TD) is way too much to overcome. Aside from the Steeler mistakes, the game played out as most expected. The Packers dominated the game through the air. Rodgers was brilliant, hitting receivers in stride all game. In fact, if his receivers held on to the ball a few extra times, Rodgers numbers would have been off the charts. The Steelers ran the ball effectively, certainly good enough to win. But Roethlisberger needed to play better. I'll give him a pass on the pick six interception (he was hit on the play and couldn't follow through), but his second pick was just a poor decision to try and thread the ball into traffic. Both defenses were solid and were able to apply pressure on the QB's throughout. My only real disappointment with the Steeler defense was once the Steelers cut the lead to 28-25, they allowed the Packers to drive down the field and kick a FG with just over two minutes to play...they needed to get the ball back sooner. But Rodgers again made all the necessary throws on that drive. The bottom line is that Rodgers outplayed Roethlisberger and that was the difference in the game.
Hats off to the Packers; they were certainly better yesterday and deserve to be Champions.
Considering he is a QB tough to say Rodgers is the best. Though he did get the job done. Us New Englanders are greatful to the Packers for putting Pittsburgh in their place.
I am pretty sure it wasn't Brady who was holding the Lombardi trophy last night. IMO the MVP is next to nothing compared to a player holding the Lombardi trophy who also managed to be the best performer in the SB. Welcome to Mr. Rodger's neighborhood. ; )
Let me know how that 14-2 season is working out for ya. I'll take the guy who throws the ball downfield exquisitely over the guy who throws it 10 yards and let's his receivers compile all his yardage for him.
Yea, Rodgers outplayed Roethlisberger, the turnovers were killers and Clay M. and the Packers defense outplayed the Steelers defense. However, a 4th quarter 6 point game in the Super Bowl is one of the better match up.
From a fellow Steeler fan, it was frustrating the mistakes they made, but you have to give credit where credit is due, and Rodgers was the difference. He showed the poise that someone who has been there as many times as Big Ben has should have shown, and if he did it on the Steelers D, hats off to him.
This will put an end once and for all to any discussion of Brett Favre in Wisconsin in anything other than a historical context.
