Sara..I have DISH now but will wait see just how long the dispute goes on..I like it because I could watch my Stl.Cards this yr..As big as a hockey fan as you are I'd switch to Direct and do it quick so you don't miss any more games..Especially the Rangers in the World Series..Just my thoughts on this topic..

I am looking for insight here.  I picked Dish eons ago because they were the only one to have the NHL package. Now Direct TV offers it.

On October 19th Fox dropped all Fox sports programming from Dish so I can't see any of my Dallas sporting teams as they are all carried on Fox.  On October 30th regular network Fox will be dropped thus blacking me out from the last three games of the World Series should they go that far and regular network tv and football.

I don't know much about these things as it has never happened to me.  I am looking to you to advise me on whether to just sit tight because "these things always work themselves out" OR dump Dish and switch which I really hate to have to do just for the pain of it.  I really don't want to wait for the last minute and then have to hit the bars for the games for a week or two when DirecTV is slammed with service requests.

Any words of wisdom from anyone?

I am a DISH subscriber and already don't have Yankees games on YES network. Losing MSG is unacceptable and I will have to switch. My choices are Direct-TV - who cannot provide HD service at my location - or Time Warner Cable, which I have used in the past and HATE. The irony is that to me, DISH has the best service and equiptment and I wish I didn't have to switch, but, I do.

no longer have any Fox network on their air. No football on Sundays nor any NLCS so far. I wonder if it will impact the World Series.
Cablevision has got to be the worst cable provider in the country. It's channel guides and info services are so antiquated. Verizon Fios is a much better service.  However since Cablevision owns MSG they do not provide an HD feed of the 3 hockey teams or Knicks broadcasts to Fios. You have to watch them in SD. Just brutal.
Don't expect any help from your local politicians who take cable money for campaign financing. It is a vicious cycle.

I have family members who only have Over the Air HD service so they haven't missed any Fox sports programs since Direct TV governs that Over The Air HD programming.
