Yahoo Sports is reporting that the Vikings have fired head coach Brad Childress. I'm sure it's his fault that Randy Moss is a huge a-hole and Brett Farve's been playing like crap!

The handwriting on the proverbial wall was long ago written for Childress. When players are coming out (albeit anyonomous) with quotes citing how they hate Childress and how they don't want to play for him, its not a good thing. Throw in the Randy Moss debacle (Childress decided to cut him without advising management) and the now sour relationship between he and Favre and the fact that they were a pre-season Super Bowl favorite who is not winning (a 3-7 record...but hey its the same record as Dallas!) and there was nothing left for the Vikings to do but to fire him.

Yes, a lot of times coaches get the short end of the stick. At the end of the day its the players who execute or don't execute the game plan. This year, the Vikings can't run the ball with any consistency, their usually stout run defense has been suspect, their secondary has been horrible and can't defend the pass and Favre is throwing interceptions at an alarming rate...other than that they are playing inspiring football!

The big thing for the Vikings is to figure out if Tarvaris Jackson is their long term answer at QB. (which is tough to do with Favre on the roster this year). Jackson played well at the end of 2008 leading them into the playoffs. He should at least get a shot to start in 2011.

Indeed.  I was musing as they left the field yesterday that the only way Childress could save his job (if he could have) would have been to go in at half time and hand the ball to Jackson.  The game was lost and that could have sent a huge signal to the rest of the team that he (Childress) was in charge.  Of course fact is - he was not - I don't think anyone is although Favre is still the ring leader of the circus.  The Vikings will spend 5 years (at least) recovering from the impact of his FINAL comeback.

Bret favre, hey favre u only 1 superbowl, u blew 1 superbowl, and last year and year when giants beat u u were the favorites. You only have 1 superbowl while u should have 4, u are no superstar, u r phony, if parcells was your coach he would had benched, you are an embarassment to nfl with your conduct as a human being, and your play is pathetic with a capital P, I am enjoying watching you fall on your face, I really wish cowboys turn it around and your vikings flounder, if I was coach of vikings I would find u a loser also, pure and simple favre is loser not coach, what a way to retire, a total awful season u will never forget.lol
