Talk about tremendous pressure for the Phils. They built/traded/bought this vaunted starting pitching staff and now are one Chris Carpenter gem (and as one of the elite pitchers in the game he is more than capable of throwing one) from being eliminated in the first round. They were heavy favorites to make it to the World Series.  

In a 7 game series, I think the Phillies talent would ultimately win out. However, in a best 3 out of 5, the better team doesn't always make it through. If you are the favorite, then close the deal quickly. Don't let yourself end up in an elimination Game 5 (i.e. Yankees, Brewers as well). Too much can go wrong, even if the game is in your ball park.

I think the Phils survive tomorrow night, but they sure haven't made it easy on themselves.
