Olympics Opening Ceremony - Such a disappointment...

So did any one check out the ceremony yesterday?

I was truly disappointed with the show. I mean, the Queen who never does any interviews or TV, jumping off the helicopter?  Mr. Bean ? Oh and that huge creepy baby? Really???

I think we would have put a better show than that right here - in our good ol' USA.

I gotta give credit, where credit is due. The fireworks and lighting of the torch were spectacular. Another poignant moment was hearing impaired kids singing the British National Anthem

Overall, if I were to rate the performance, I would give it a 6.5/10

I loved the lighting of the torch
The British humor was very surprising to me and in an odd way entertaining.
I did enjoy the singing of the Isles by the children. On a whole I think the Chinese did a great job on the USA's uniforms :D I was happy to see the countries parade move along at a nice clip and I'm always amazed at seeing countries enter into the arena that i never knew they existed on the world map.

I am ready for the games...already watching today.
USA USA USA

...however, I don't think the Olympic stage is a place to showcase your dry sense of humor. I was looking for something a lot more classier (yes sadly, Chinese did a better job). I didn't watch ceremony in Athens (missed it for some reason), but Sydney was amazing in circa 2000.

I am red white and blue and more patriotic than most. the Opening Ceremony was alright, kinda expected the British humor. I loved the James Bond and Queen bit, hearing impaired kids singing, the torch light ceremony, the industrial revolution and making rings was decent but the baby stuff I got alittle lost but hey, the fireworks was great!  but  the USA uniforms... cmon your telling me that was the best choice? the Olympic committee will never understand the term "KISS" Keep It Simple Stupid! Why not simple docker shorts, pants or skirts and a simple polo shirt with a poly pullover with "USA" on front with patch of the event your in such as basketball, soccer, swimming. etc. Then add in the 'made in China", I would love to have seen the pricetag of how much $$$ we gave Ralph Lauren to come up with that gimmick. Oh and dont get me started on the beret! That was a travesty! the Chinese Olympic committee was probably laughing saying look at what the fucking ignorant American are gonna wear!!!!
I am waiting for some brainstormer PR person at the Olympic committee to suggest this...make a simple uniform that Walmart or Target or JC Pennys can sell and how many of us American will buy it just to show national pride!

...should have burned those uniforms. Fuckin' pathetic..

I give it a 9.5.  The Brits are willing to use outrageous events.  While I am a proud American, the American openings have been dull and predictable (with the exception of Ali torch lighting).
