Football is brutal enough. Just playing hard within in the rules leads to serious and sometimes career ending injries. Now comes a defensive coordinator in Greg Williams (who is (now was) a highly respected coach in the league) who had a long standing plan in place to reward players with cash if they injured opponents. Heck, it was an even bigger pay day if the player was carted off the field. This makes me sick beyond belief.

Williams created a whole culture whereby players took extra liberties to intentionally harm players. Now these could have ranged from legal but unnecessary hits to downright blatant after the whistle BS. You can't have a sport where the intent and goal is to hurt someone. There is no place for that in the NFL. Period. I'd be frickin embarrassed if I was a fan of one of these teams.

Listen, we all know that money is exchanged among players every week in an NFL lockeroom. Make a big hit, pick off a pass, score the winning TD, and I am sure there is some type of monetary pool among the players. But when a coach has a long history of paying players to intentionally harm others, it is really beyond reproach.

It will be interesting to see what Goodell does in terms of punishment. I can't imagine Williams coaching this season. I think anyone who knew about this (Sean Peyton, the GM, the owner) should be harshly punished as well. I am sure the Saints will be heavily fined and loose draft picks. We'll see if the punishment extends to any of Williams former teams (Redskins, Bills or Titans) or any of the players involved.

Jonathan Vilma, offered up  $10,000 to anyone who could knock Brett Favre out of their NFC Championship game. You're right about the punishment. We've been hearing about Roger Goodell promoting player safety. Everyone will be watching this situation to see how he handles it.

simple solution..pull a pete rose on him..banish him from the game completely..anything less would be a mockery of justice..

Wow! Bounty's have been going on in football for decades... In football circles the players have always been aware of this... Now everyone is acting so shocked... Again, wow!

The Saints are gonna have to pay the price because it's become public knowledge...  Goodall is going to make an example out of them... Unfortunately the Saints will take the heat for something other teams do as well... The other teams just have not gotten caught yet...

No different than the steroid era in baseball... When balls were flying out of the park and attendance was at an all time high no one said a word... But everyone knew... It's only when info becomes public that leagues feel a need to address it...

So true, the NFL is so hypocritical, a few years ago on Monday Night Countdown before they had C'MON
MAN, they had YOU GOT JACKED UP! Glorifying the best hits of the weekend. When I played high school football back in the 70's there were bounties, people are to damn sensitive these days!
