The NHL has a weird rule - one person is designated as the emergency goalie for BOTH teams if they run out of goaltenders. In baseball, if a team runs out of catchers, another position player takes over. They don't pull someone out of the stands to catch. The 42 year-old had never played in an NHL game. He gave up goals on the first two shots he faced but then settled down and stopped the next eight shots to win the game for the Canes. Amazing!
