It is a very sad day in Tampa town as the Legendary Gentleman and Hall of Famer passed away today from stroke complications. I came to town in 1983 and often saw Lee Roy around the city. He was always immaculately dressed with a suit and tie. He was always easily approachable and always willing to talk with anyone and I had a couple of brief conversations with him. He was the epitome of class, dignity and humility and will be sorely missed here. His barbecue restaurants were great meeting places to watch big games and the local expressway is named after him. He was AD of USF for a while and gave generously of his time to local charities. He was just a sweet,  wonderful man who terrorized opposing offenses for many years despite regularly being double teamed-I don't think there was a more beloved individual in this town than Lee Roy. Some people can't be replaced, Lee Roy Selmon was one.

...the first to be drafted by the "new franchise".  The previous owners did well in choosing him.
