for making everyone who saw him feel happy.  One of the most unassuming comedians I have ever seen...and I am not sure that anyone raised in our modern times could be that way again.

However, as for the part about your parents, TMT...are you SURE that their just hadn't learned from their mistake? :P (JK...as you know)

My parents would rather watch Johnny Carson at night rather than have sex.

Now THAT is a great epitaph!  ;)

He was like family. Everyone just called him "Johnny."

"Heeere's Johnny!"  is iconic. When Jack Nicholson ad libbed it in "The Shining" everyone knew what it meant.

I don't believe anyone will have a bad word about him in death. And that goes a very long way in revealing what kind of human being he was.

Godspeed Johnny!

TMT

I agree. Johnny Carson was my first celebrity crush. When I was a kid, once my parents had fallen asleep I'd sneak downstairs to watch the Carson show with the volume so low I had to sit 3 inches from the screen so I could hear it. I'd cover my mouth so my laughter wouldn't wake up my parents and I'd dream of kissing Johnny during the commercial breaks. Sigh.  When he left the show it was my first year of college. Johnny had been a constant from childhood into adulthood, and I never tired of him.
I admit, I never gave Leno a chance. He has nothing on Johnny. He will be so missed.
