Met with a young lady at Tubs on Roosevelt today. As we were leaving, the desk clerk told us that "because of our arrangement with the Seattle Vice Squad, you two (me and my lady friend) are banned from returning."

WTF is up with that? Are they bugging the rooms? Or, are they making assumptions because of the difference in our ages? Either way, now my name, driver's license, and CC number are on this "blacklist," as is my lady friend's name and license number.

Don't take your business there, unless you're willing to run that risk. I wouldn't, if I had known.

Now that I've been there, I agree. It's damp, dark, noisy, and the beds suck. Even without the blacklisting event, the customer service is also pretty marginal, although expecting anything more than a warm body is probably asking too much.

The more I think about this experience, the more I suspect that Tubs has begun keeping some kind of database of the number of visits that individuals (providers) make with different partners. This is extremely creepy, since it suggests that anyone who leaves I.D. for the "key deposit," which means everyone, is not only having this information copied and examined far beyond what is necessary for the stated purpose, but that the information is being copied and maintained for a long time. Who knows how secure this database is. The clerk's statement regarding an "agreement with Seattle Vice" also suggests that this information might be scrutinized by LE. Be afraid; be very afraid.
