trusted site. The connotation towards the underage girls utilizing said site is very sad. However, I believe that the news article stated the feds had been investigating since 2011.
I have been taken aback several times with how "loose lipped" folks could be on that site. The fact that a lot of ladies chose to put their complete menu in a lot of ads probably didn't help.
Every site will have a le presence. I have noticed that in the last week I have received numerous request from people who have used the infamous, "Oh I've never done this before I have no references" line and well, no thanks.
Awareness is key, discretion is key and screening is of the utmost importance. I feel badly for the many ladies who have all of their reviews on that site. Solid reputations built there are gone. I highly doubt they will put it back up, but if so.. as stated. No trust there.

In my opinion, that other site got too big. Things changed when craigslist closed its adult section and then all the people that used to advertise there flooded that other site. You could tell the difference and the owners and moderators there didn't care. The quality of moderators over there varied, some of them had their own shenanigans.
LE has used that site to bust people before but I guess someone needed to get a ticket punched and promoted so they decided to shut er down.

Heard part of their crimes is tax evasion. Did they not learn from Capone? ALWAYS pay your taxes.

Sometimes it seemed that the other site was the best tool LE had to find easy picking illegal activity. I was surprised that it went down like it did, but apparently there was a LOT of money involved, at least that's what is alleged in the indictment documents that one of the news stories linked to.
I have done nothing but warn all the people that are in the know over there and words of wisdom have been passed on...Oh well. lesson learned hard. Everything you have said kenny is correct. It just seemed so strange to me that the owner of that site just refused to put up a gate keeping method. A simple password protection service. I wasnt even comparing this site to theirs! I was simply telling them to put some kind of barrier that would bounce off google-searches. The frekking owner does the opposite and welcomes the googling and the cache-collection on their site. Ridiculous! Well, it took some time but it finally happened and I warned and told them so! And yes, you are correct that there were a few of those mods that have hidden agendas. All of that info finally surfaced and yet the owner of the site continued to keep them. You are correct, its all about greed. The owner didnt care as long as there was positive cash flow coming his way. He didnt care where it came from.

You do know that TER was also taken down years ago as well? People were jumping ship like crazy, doing whatever they could do to get banned, which is where the banned site originated from. Nearly every major board has been taken down at one point or another.

The former owner was arrested. He had sold the site to the current owners, but they kept him on in some capacity. Then the former owner decided to keep doing what he was doing to some people and got in trouble. The current owners fired him shortly after that incident.
Funny thing is that one of the girls he harrassed was also on our now departed site and she briefly posted about that event a few weeks ago.

I am taking this shut down as a positive thing. It was just getting out of control with the boundary pushers and jerks. The dangerous persons forums were completely full! Too many fake ads and just a bunch of drama in general. The guys really started to be rude and hateful there. Pointing out new providers ads and accusing everyone over 200 to have GPS. Guys refusing to see girls without explicit menus and open crotch shots. Polls with ridiculous questions and just a general bad attitude. I wished they would ban a few members multiple times but they just didn't care enough to moderate it well.
I am sad that I lost 11 years of excellent reviews. I was rated an average of 1-2 points higher in all categories on the other site. I think TERs review section is much more tougher on providers who don't do certain things. I liked the even playing ground I was allowed on the other site. I was able to set up a good reputation and continue with it for many years. I only hope that reputation I built will follow me here. Its a bit scary thinking about starting over with reviews... but on the other hand it just makes me be more humbled, less cocky and better grounded. I have faith that my good reputation, many years of loyal service will be re-established and equally rewarded here. I guess I will just have to knock the socks off of each and every person I see... although I already did that... LOL
The good thing about TER is we wont have the problem with explicit ads, underage ads or a bunch of guys pointing out ads and ruining chances for new girls. TER is moderated much better and I think will force a more positive attitude toward each other. They simply will not put up with the trash talk. There is no underground activities allowed here. yeah the moderators here are different. They aren't directly involved with the site as far as I know and are pretty much faceless. I'm thinking they aren't even in US based on my interactions with them. They do their job as they are told and I think that may be the hard part for newbies to understand. Perhaps because TER is owned and operated by a non-US company, things are different.
and like you, my rep, as insignificant as it was on that other site, is gone. But hey, new beginnings, new changes.

I posted this happening on both the Vegas and San Diego boards which are lite users of this now shut down site. This site started in San Francisco and attempted to branch out but really only had traction in San Francisco and the Central Valley. The CV was particularly a problem for me since I only visited about 6 times a year and my TER whitelist and P411 provider okays were pretty much met with a WTF response for reference purposes. I had to use and figure out this site when I was in the Cv. But it will be interesting to see what happens since the folks in Bako, Fresno, Stockton and Sacramento have historically relied solely on this site (unless they were very high end providers and experienced hobbyists). Too bad in the end because it was easy for me in the CV and now not sure what happens but hopefully providers migrate to TER.

There is a fair amount on local tv news & online about what's happened so far.
Haven't been around for very long but having somewhat become familiar with both site. I think all different forum sections focusing on a particular topic is perhaps the biggest difference that the local site offered. I think part of why that was possible was because the website was solely very dedicated to the Northern CA area.
I agree with a lot of what has already been said, no site is a hundred percent foolproof. TER & the other local site, certainly not the only two discussion sites out there, let alone the only advertising sites, but they are probably the two most used sites in regard to the Nor-Cal area. I'm sure most would agree that one will find something they'll like more about TER, however there is probably more things that they liked & will miss about the other site.
It catered mainly to the SFbay area. I'd care to guess that over 50percent of its business and main income is the southbay/silicon valley clientle alone. For example; that owner of tha site charged more for advertising as a premium and ectra fee to advertise to those clientle in the southbay. Its funny also that his vendors was selling the cheapest and most consistent services that it had to offer. And not to mention that there was practically no ROB factor there as well. It was a win-won for a long time, but as I said already in the other response-his greed got the best of him. That and the fact that he refused to put up some kind of firewall to keep things under the lid. Not so extreme like TER, but something as minimal as a password protection entry was none-existent. That website was too freeking transparent and it started to bother me when the chartermember phase was over. His intent was transparency in order to grow and to grow very fast.

I did not expect my retirement from that site to be imposed by others,
but it seems that there is no such thing as Free Speech anymore......
I will be post occasionally and I will view TER from now on, while

Th shutting down of that other board affects not just California providers and hobbyists...but hobbyists and providers all over the United States. After this, all providers and hobbyists will be VERY careful in how they hobby.

now i am moving back to the bay area and this happens...
guess we'll just communicate here then...
First, I don't think the site will ever come back to life. Second, you don't seem to understand their goal. They wanted to bring down and disrupt the biggest advertising network in California. If they wanted to bust individual providers, they were better off with the site up and running. If the site did ever come back up, there wouldn't be any harm advertising there. Did you think they cops couldn't see your ads and all of the information you posted for the 13 years before they shut down the site?

I am sorry if that site goes back up, it most likely would be restarted by people we do not want to run the site. (FBI, LE, etc) so now why on EARTH would I want to go back to a site now RUN by the very people I do not want to see???

According to an extremely reliable source, with a very long history in the community here, the servers were NOT overseas, and have been seized along with any other incriminating material. Please be absolutely diligent in screening new clients, at least until this dies down.
With the server logs, the FBI will know more about your clients than you do.
I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you're doing something nefarious, they will most likely ignore you. Now if your job requires frequent back ground checks for security clearance you're screwed.

The other site that's now gone was hosted in the Czech Republic. The server hosting the site was on shared hardware numerous legitimate sites of other customers were also hosted on.
The other site that's now gone didn't store credit card or personal information. They used a 3rd party company called ccbill.com to process credit cards. The feds would need to subpoena ccbill.com to get your personal and credit information.
Besides.. We all used the site for the legal strip club ads.
I heard on the news that they seized acs which was also owned by the other site. This was the billing site used to charge cc info for paid ads. I never remember seeing ccbill. Perhaps I am wrong.
Ccbill.com is on my statement. This site uses the same service.
CCbill if I'm not mistaken is the processor for credit card payments, so they would take your credit card number and run the payment, and give the money to ACS. I'm guessing that ACS is probably a fake company that MR. Red set up to solely to receive the payments, also so that those of you that paid by CC won't see you know what on your CC statement.
Always pay by cash, always...more risker I know, but at least your CC and info won't show on records

Just imagine folks, red's business thrived during the recession! One of the few businesses that kept the demand at an even pace and never really took a dive. Because theres so many mongers in the bay area that are just so rich to keep this thing sustained. I think us, LA and NYC is the major trifecta of whoring. Amazing!
