Coming to San Francisco either this weekend or after Labor Day. It is my first visit. Can anyone recommended which is a good area to stay in? I am coming for my corporate job and may squeeze in a little play time while I am there. See my top reviews and let me know if you have time to play.
is the most convenient. It has a bunch of hotels to choose from, restaurants, shopping, parking garages & public transportation.
Many guys who work in Silicon Valley don't like it as it makes it harder to get to, but guys like myself who work in SF find it to be the best location.
Fisherman's Wharf is hard for people to get to, as it is congested with tourists and transportation options are limited at that end of town. SF is a mini NYC, in that traffic is a bitch during the work week so most who work in the city don't drive to work, but take public transportation.
If you stay in a hotel by the airport or closer to San Jose, you'll need a car. Otherwise you will be trapped in the hotel & there's nothing to do during any downtime. At Union Square, all you have to do is walk outside your hotel and you can choose to take a Cable Car ride, shop or dine or just hang out in the Square & people watch.
Check with others as I'm sure some will have differing views.
