You know, this is a great point and I'm actually in that same position.  I deal with that by being careful with whom I'm associated and by creating more "under ground" profiles that I can use to "reach out" to those relatively dicreetly.

If you show your face in your provider ads. You will have the risk of someone playing the side bet when they see you on social networking sites.

Meaning, you never know who is and why they are contacting you.
